South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire South Yorkshire is a metropolitan county. Its principal conurbations are Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley. Like Greater London and the West Midlands this is a highly urban area.

But despite large industrialised areas nowhere is far from countryside. On the western edge, towards the Peak District, Hathersage on the Derbyshire border is popular while village hot spots elsewhere in the county include Bawtry and Tickhill to the east of Sheffield and the undoubted jewel in the crown, Wentworth, to the north of Rotherham.
