West Yorkshire West Yorkshire’s busy industrial and commercial conurbation around the M62 quickly gives way to an amazing variety of country from the rugged Pennine Moors to the West where historic towns such as Hebden Bridge maintain their individuality despite newfound popularity with Manchester and Leeds commuters, to the Peak District National Park villages and unspoilt Holmfirth to the South.

The Great North Road, or the A1M as some know it, marks the start of gentle arable country going East from the main conurbation. Here there are many delightful farming villages often centred round important country houses.

North of the business areas, Wharfedale and Ilkley and Otley are the start of the beautiful softer rolling countryside merging into North Yorkshire with Skipton marking the start to the Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate and Wetherby lying further East towards The Great North Road.
