Middlesex is no longer an autonomous civic authority, and has merged into Greater London. But don’t say that to the residents. Middlesex still proudly exists as a distinct area in the minds of many.
From the Thames-side towns of Chiswick, Hampton and Sunbury to John Betjemen’s beloved Metroland including Moor Park and Northwood, Middlesex has legions of strong advocates, many of them commuters. Popular locations include some of London’s best ‘villages’ including Harrow on the Hill, Mill Hill and Old Enfield – all worth getting to know.
